For a class in year 2 we were briefed to design an experimental typographic poetry book. We were to create a beautiful physical object through a range of techniques. I chose the poet Pablo Neruda and focused my book around the themes of female form and nature which are very prominent in his poems. I chose to use techniques when making the book such as riso-printing, embroidery, book binding and laser cutting. This taught me a lot in hand craft and how to use various methods. I used subtle ways too make the poems sit on the page, so it still looks formal but flowing. I think this Wass a successful project which met the brief and created a beautiful final product. I particularly enjoyed learning how to use the laser cutter and doing the embroidery for this project.
